The Natural Beauty of Puertecitos

It’s difficult to do justice, with words alone, to the beauty and wonder of Puertecitos and the surrounding areas.  This kind of natural splendor really needs to be witnessed in person.  The list of what there is to see, do and enjoy grows beyond the confines of what we can share in a list on paper; as such, we invite you to come experience the magnificence for yourself and verify all we are about to share.

The Beach at La Joya Real

Most people love the idea of sandy beaches in Mexico, but if you consider what really makes a great day by the water, it’s not necessarily just lying there – it’s the times you discover the waters that make for significant memories.  Our beaches offer those sandy spots to lie and daydream; but more interestingly, Mother Nature offers a gift on these beaches – lava rock tidepools.  These tiny, pristine and exclusive rock communities are teeming with sea- life ~ at~ your~ fingertips.  The creatures that emerge from the murky waters of these shallow seas offer a glimpse into the extraordinary world from where sea-life begins.  Hours can float by as you peek under rocks, turn over crawling shells and let unfold before you the beauty of one of the most unique and exquisitely hidden parts of Northern Baja.

At its furthest point from the water, La Joya Real is less than one mile to the shores of the Sea of Cortez – and many homesites are much closer.

Although we love our property and our beach, the areas surrounding us are bursting with additional beauty, more adventure, more activities and the encouragement to get out and explore!

A sampling:
· Waterfalls 25 miles to the west; natural streams throughout
· Blue Fan Palm hiking trips
· Volcano (dormant)
· Shopping, hotels, restaurants and tourist activities, including shopping, approximately 45 miles to the north
· Hiking/Biking trails
· Valley of the Giants – Cardon Cactus ‘forest’, approximately 35 miles to the north
· Naturally-occuring Hot Springs, just 5 miles south
· Wine Country to the North in the Guadalupe Valley
· Matomi Canyon Oasis, just 25 miles away
· Trails abound for off-roading; dirtbikes, ATVs, dunebuggies (remember: this is Baja Races territory!)
· Camping and day trips into the mountains, offering a completely different eco-system

Not to be overlooked is the amazing fishing in Puertecitos.  The deeper waters of this area (and the first deep waters you reach as you drive south from the border) lend themselves to terrific and successful fishing trips.  The islands just south of Puertecitos offer even better waters.

Our in-house Captain, who started the San Felipe Fishing Tournament and his own tournament in 2009, will be available for private tours, on our private boat in some of the best possible locations
Additionally, we have been contacted by an inventor who has created a floating pier; he thinks our unique location would provide a perfect place for such a venture.  This pier will extend far enough for a boat to tie up, thereby enhancing our sea-front locale and increasing the enjoyment and use of all that Mother Nature provides.  We have agreed wholeheartedly with his vision and have included this idea on our list of projected amenities (list to follow).

When the vision of La Joya Real becomes a reality and the hard work and planning has all taken effect and our projected list becomes a living community, here’s what we anticipate:

Driving along Mexican Highway 5, a beautiful entrance to our property will welcomes its residents and visitors with the promise of a low-profile, but beautifully developed Boutique Resort/Residential Destination.  Within that entrance we plan to have a striking water feature and manned guard-house and flags waving in the sea-breeze.

Beyond the entrance the intention is to have well-built and nicely designed buildings housing everything from a sales office and a coffee house to stores with local crafts and at least one restaurant.  Further down and closer to the water our plans call for a full pool, swim-up bar, hot tubs and patio area complete with private cabanas.

Scattered throughout the property we intend to have public gardens where cultivated and manicured local plant life will be maintained along side benches and garden features that invite residents and guests to stroll and linger in the natural beauty of the area.  Walking down to the beach will be easy for most on our hard-packed roads (we will not pave roads with asphalt for environmental reasons, as well as a desire to maintain a more natural appreciation for the existing terrain), with a protected walkway running the length down to the beach.

Manicured, but natural landscape that celebrates indigenous plants
and flowers will prevail within La Joya Real.

Throughout our 48(+/-) acres, there will be homesites ranging in size from approximately 5400 to just under 11,000 square feet.  Due to the natural undulations and slope of our property, most properties will have a water view and our CC&Rs will promote the protection of these views.  Because we encourage the construction of sky-decks on top of houses, you can maximize the amazing views to be seen in all directions (which includes the stupendous mountain views directly to our west).  Homesites are projected to total just shy of 170 parcels.

We intend to have a Community Center aimed at providing a gathering place for all manner of activities including:

· Private parties
· Classes and activities such as:
yoga •art •language •book clubs
· Community Parties for holidays and special events
· Wii Lounge – where residents and guests can participate in the virtual world of fun and games

As the community continues to develop and as the traffic increase warrants, we have a plan in place to build condominiums and rental units to encourage more people to come experience and enjoy our exquisitely private slice of Baja heaven.

There will also be an on-site Activity/Adventure Office.  Well-informed guides will help you take advantage of all the exciting Things To Do.  Included will be tours to the waterfalls, the wine country and rentals for things such as ATVs, mountain bikes, kayaks, snorkels, etc.  We also plan to offer guided tours through some of the most spectacular sites.
